Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief and Uttar Pradesh (East) Chief Minister Mayawati welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to convene a meeting of chief ministers to discuss the issue of Kovid-19 in the country. He also demanded that the poor and middle class get free immunization and speed up the drive.

Currently, the Kovid vaccine is being given free in government hospitals, while its price has been fixed at ₹ 250 per shot for private healthcare centers.
Mayawati recently announced that her party will contest Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh in 2022, ending speculation of a possible alliance with the BJP. Many leaders of his party have joined the Samajwadi Party in the last few months.
