Former Indian cricketer and selector Sarandeep Singh praised Rishabh Pant for improving his technique to fight fitness issues and to make a spectacular comeback in international cricket. Commenting on the never ending debate of India’s first choice keeper in the Test, Sarandeep said that Pant could give India 10 years, but the same cannot be said of Wriddhiman Saha.
After Pant was left out of India’s limited-overs squad for Australia, his international match seemed to have hit a road. But Pant made a great comeback in the Test and contributed to matches in Sydney and Adelaide and helped India win the series. He won the match in 4 Tests against England, staying in the same form.
Pant made a brilliant performance against England in the limited-overs format and became the subject of discussion before IPL 2021.
No praise will be enough for Pant. He had some fitness issues, worked on it, and worked on his shot selection. If you expect a 21-year-old to play like a 30-year-old, then starting is tough. At the same time you are watching Hardik (Pandya), the way he now bats with experience, the same thing has been seen in Pant in the last six months.
He said, he was out of the team which was good for him. There is a right time to hit and the right ball. The way he played in Australia shows that he has gained a lot of experience. He is choosing and choosing.
Sarandeep said, he can give you 10 years in Test cricket.
He further said, Shreyas got injured in ODIs, so Rishabh played. KL should be the wicketkeeper when he comes back as he has been taking wickets for a long time and doing a good job.
Pant will become his new captain for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021 as regular captain Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury.
