New Delhi. Facebook’s role in human rights violations has often been criticized. It has now introduced a new corporate human rights policy online, which includes a fund to support all social networks and human rights defenders.
This new policy has been set on the basis of human rights standards. Facebook will strive to comply with international law, including the United Nations Guidelines on Trade and Human Rights
On Wednesday, Human Rights Director Miranda Sissons stated, “How we apply these standards to our apps, products, policies, programming and our overall approach to business will all depend on them. We will pose a threat to important issues related to human rights such as freedom of expression before our board of directors.
A public report will also be released by Facebook every year, detailing how it has dealt with issues related to human rights in the course of its products, policy or business activities.
